CinePlex Change Log
(Last updated 5/22/07)
Version 1.4.0
CinePlex Capture
New Features:
- Worked out procedure to eliminate video freezing and tearing on the shuttle by switching display to 70 Hz.
- Added capability to delete arena and clear track by right clicking on the video image and selecting an option.
- Changed interface with remote control device so that recording cannot be started when certain error conditions, such as "Objects too large", are present.
Bug Fixes:
- Settings file fixes for arena transparency, image quality, points to show, filter details.
- Minor cosmetic fixes to the GUI.
- Corrected several errors that resulted in an object's track being erased, obscured, or left around incorrectly.
- Fixed error causing the first timestamp in a DVT file recorded remotely to have a very large positive number.
- Fixed error causing an object leaving the arena under certain conditions to be tracked.
- Fixed frame count discrepancy - AVI file showed one more frame than DVT file.
- Improved contour tracking algorithm to be more sensitive to color contrasts.
CinePlex Markup
Improvements:
- Rewrote Export to .PLX function so that it no longer requires the same number of occurrences of Position markers.
- Improved the placement of the progress bar on bottom status bar
Bug Fixes:
- A PLX file containing an incomplete burst of VT strobed words could fail under certain circumstances.
- Corrected rounding errors with reading timestamps from a DVT file which showed up after 65,536 seconds of recording.
- Don't allow Copy Marker operation to create duplicate Marker names.
- The Interpolate Missing Occurrences tool did not work properly when the 'Use Frame Marker Times' option was selected.
- Selecting a crosshair size of 0 on the video now view does not show any crosshairs.
- Made the reading of DVT files more robust, incorrectly formatted files are now detected.
Version 1.3.0
CinePlex Capture
New Features:
- Improved tracking in LED, Contour, and Reflective Colors modes.Resized the default video window to native resolution (640x480) to eliminate video distortion and reduce display freezes when using the Shuttle processor units. The full window video size can be selected if desired. Note that the AVI and DVT files are completely valid in either video resolution. The selected resolution is saved and restored in the Settings file.
- If the 1 kHz clock ceases or is not present:
- During recording, the recording will be STOPPED.
- The frame rate window shows N/A instead of a random value.
- The Record and Arm buttons are disabled, and a notification dialog appears.
- The algorithm for object contour tracking with a background image enabled has been improved. The new algorithm does not require manual selection of "dark on bright" or "bright on dark" – the algorithm selects the correct mode and tracks either type of object automatically.
Bug Fixes:
- A fix to the exit (error code -9) which may occur after installation. It affected users who had been doing full-body tracking (contour mode) prior to the installation. Users of LED or reflective color tracking were not affected. The workaround is to rename the Settings.txt file to something else and start CinePlex Capture again. While running the new CinePlex in contour mode they should not save the Settings file, or they will get the same exit and have to delete it again.
- A fix to the exit which occurred when Fill All Objects is enabled in LED mode and the sensitivity threshold slider is moved too far to the left. The workaround is to start CinePlex Capture again. Do not use the Fill All Objects option in LED mode in earlier releases on CinePlex Capture.
- Disabled most user options while recording, including background operations and arena visualization changes.
- Fixes to saving and restoring the Settings file so that all user options are restored correctly.
- Motion measure stabilization.
- Minor textual changes in tool tip and wizard verbiage.
- Arena creation, usage, and display cleanup.
- Fixed several small bugs in the LED mode to improve LED tracking reliability.
- Improved procedures for outlining and filling found objects to reduce CPU usage.
CinePlex Markup
Improvements:
- The Show Complete Tail option in the video view now stays selected until you unselect it. Before it would erase itself after the pointer was moved out of the video window. Note that drawing the complete tail can be very slow for large files, the user should not leave this option turned on in this case.
Bug Fixes:
- Marker tail on video view did not reset when a new project was loaded.
- Allow importing DVT files that do not have any coordinates in them.
- Fixed exit that could happen if you tried to load a non-existent file from the recently-used list.
- Fixed bug causing clicks on the 'Show' column in the Markers view to be missed sometimes.
- Fixed bug causing marker occurrence highlighting in the Activity view to not work sometimes.
- File Info view would not update after loading a new project.
- Several strange effects could happen if you loaded a video file that was 'mismatched' to the frame markers (e.g. it had a different number of frames). This shouldn't happen under normal conditions.
- Fixed cosmetic problem with the top window border in the 'Plexon Blue Vista' theme.
Version 1.2.0
CinePlex Capture
New Features:
- Much improved tracking quality
- New visualizations
- Now runs on a new small form factor Capture Processor as well as the prior breadbox version
Bug Fixes:
- Too many to list separately
CinePlex Markup
New Features:
- Revamped user interface for a more modern look-and-feel, re-arranged menu structure.
- View positions and other settings are now remembered between invocations.
- Added optional latency correction. Note that this correction is now enabled by default! See the section entitled 'Correcting for Video Latency' in the Markup product documentation.
Improvements:
- Renamed Regions to Zones
- The color of Invalidated spikes can now be selected
Version 1.1.0
CinePlex Capture
Improvements:
- Can now capture longer AVI files (up to 1 TB).
- Can now record directly to the C: hard drive instead of the Lacie external drive.
- Added support for a USB-USB link.
- Modified File Library to support copying files to an external drive.
- Video file preview now loads much faster.
- Support for C-HUB for use with Recorder.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed some situations where files were not properly closed when the disk filled up
- Fixed various user interface fixes.
CinePlex Markup
New Features:
- Can now play user-selected sounds whenever a spike or a marker occurs during playback.
- Added support for working with longer AVI files.
- Can now load some AVI files that were not produced by CinePlex Capture.
Improvements:
- Now uses XP themes, updated look-and-feel, miscellaneous minor user interface improvements.
- Added ability to specify a tolerance for defining a gap in the Interpolate Missing Occurrences operation.
- Added ability to go to the time of the currently selected Marker occurrence from the Markers list.
- Copying the Frame Marker will convert it to a Time-only Marker type so that it can be used in all operations.
- Added some context menu options to the Channels view.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed problems reading certain .PLX files that were created via the Export to New .PLX function in Offline Sorter.
- Fixed a potential off-by-one bug when searching for Marker occurrences.
- Fixed possible crash after disabling the display of all spike channels
- Fixed possible 'jittery' display problem that only occurred with some video cards
- Fixed problem that could occur with long-duration files when zoomed in many times
Version 1.0.3
CinePlex Capture
New Features:
- Added additional camera control for shutter
speed. This fixes image blurring caused from a slow shutter setting.
- Changed
File menu option "Save Defaults" to "Save
Settings" as well as tool-tip for "Save" button
on the toolbar. This clears up confusion between "Factory
Defaults" and "User
Settings". Also made the associated dialog changes concerning
Settings and Defaults.
- Added capability to update camera drivers
in the field. This is needed if the original camera is replaced
with another.
CinePlex Markup
Improvements:
- Made various changes to make using CinePlex without
an .AVI file easier.
- Can also snap markers to the next event, instead
of just the previous or closest events.
- Can now select and delete
more than one variable in the marker table at a time, by selecting
'Delete All Highlighted Markers' from the right-click menu.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed problem with using .NEX files that had continuous
variables but no spike variables.
- Added checks that prevent importing
files with a different timestamp frequency.
- Added new File Import
option, Default Timestamp Frequency, to cover cases where the
initial project file doesn't have a specified timestamp frequency
(e.g. a .DVT file).
- Do not allow the Level/Region Editors to come
up when there are no Markers of type Scalar/Coordinate.
- After
CinePlex Markup offered to auto-generate frame markers for files
that do not have them, it defaulted to generating 0 of them,
which could cause a crash. Now it calculates a reasonable number
of frame markers based on the duration of the file.
- Fix
a problem where at certain zoom levels the Neural Data view
showed a series of disconnects points for continuous data instead
of a line.
- Hitting escape or the Done button while editing
a region in the region editor could leave an un-closed region.
- Added
a checkbox for Motion data when Centroid Position is checked
in the Export To .PLX dialog. Otherwise it was not possible to
export centroid position without the motion, which is a legitimate
tracking mode
Version 1.0.1
CinePlex Capture
New Features:
- Added support for interfacing to the NIDAQ
version of Recorder
- Added Configuration Dialog to allow user
to switch between Plexon MAP and Plexon Recorder
- Added ability
to optionally record AVI file. This allows users to make a DVT
without the overhead of the AVI if tracking data is all they
are interested in.
- Combined the Record and Pause lines together
for the interfacing to the Plexon Recorder
Improvements:
- Removed record sputter by adding an internal
ARM feature
- Rearranged the steps in LED and Color Reflective
tracking wizards to minimize the possibility of getting a "black" screen
by prematurely clicking on the Show Discrimination option
- Added
a Toggle LED engineering mode to support the measurement of Latency
- Grayed out ARM toolbar button when in the
Recorder mode since Capture initiates the Record/Pause signal
for Recorder
Bug Fixes:
- Grayed the Create/Set Mask menu item and toolbar
button when not in the Contrast mode
- Disallowed the camera settings
to be changed while recording
- Changed the names of settings functionality
to Save Settings and Restore Settings

OutputAVI and OutputDVT is checked
- Removed the word "video" from
the Start/Stop/Resume menu items and toolbar buttons
CinePlex
Markup

interval occurrences when the region was not yet defined
- Fixed
problem that could crash if you deleted the last point in a
region then pressed the Edit button in the Region Editor
